From the electromagetism, you will have developed an understanding of how the mathematical techniques of complex numbers can assist in formulating and solving physical problems. From the special relativity you will learn how Newtonian dynamics and mechanics are modified at very high speeds.

From the dynamics, you will have developed an appreciation of how the mathematical techniques of vector analysis can assist in formulating and solving physical problems. On completion of the unit you will be familiar with basic terminology and processes in dynamics and electricity. The objective of this unit is to provide a thorough grounding in dynamics, mechanics and special relativity (32 lectures) and electromagnetism (17 lectures), and to appreciate the mathematical framework through which quantitative problems in these areas can be solved.
